Pro SAMe provides 200 mg of stabilized S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe) in each vegetarian capsule. SAMe is a sulfur-containing compound naturally produced from the amino acid methionine and ATP. SAMe is the body’s primary methyl donor; it is found ubiquitously in the human body. It is involved in the synthesis and regulation of neurochemicals, the maintenance of healthy cell membranes, the ATP cycle, and is also involved in the methylation and transsulfuration pathways. SAMe is also important for normal production of glutathione, cysteine, and taurine, which are important for healthy liver function. Due to its role in supporting healthy synthesis of connective tissues, SAMe may also help support bone and joint health.
