Dr. McCombs’ Candida Plan is a 16-week whole body detoxification program that eliminates systemic fungal Candida, cleanses the liver and other organs, purifies the lymphatic system, and re-populates the beneficial bacteria of the intestinal tract. It is necessary to complete all 16 weeks of the plan to receive the maximum benefit possible for you.
Here is an overview of how the plan works in your body from Week 1 through 16:
2. Anti-Candida Diet
1. Neutralize (Weeks 1 – 8)
Candida in its fungal (mycelial) form is difficult if not impossible to starve or eliminate. That’s why The McCombs Plan uses Candida Force, a safe natural anti-fungal, to neutralize the fungal Candida and convert it back to its harmless yeast form. As a yeast cell, Candida is naturally eliminated by the immune system. Candida Force is taken from Week 1 – Week 8 of The McCombs Plan.
2. Anti-Candida Diet (Weeks 1 – 16)
The McCombs Plan Diet is a tried-and-tested eating plan that eliminates factors that have been promoting growth of fungus, bad bacteria and mucous. The “Yes Foods” on The McCombs Plan are:
- All meats (except pork)
- Fruits (except oranges)
- Brown rice (short or long grain)
- Brown rice cakes (plain)
- Brown rice cereal (hot)
- Tea, Coffee
a) For cooking or salad dressing we recommend using extra virgin olive oil, cold-pressed coconut, apricot or almond oils (most other oils are toxic to the body.)
b) Seasonings include:Bragg’s Liquid Amino Acids, salt, pepper, lemon, etc. (as long as there are no sugars, yeast, or anything not on the plan.

3. Detoxify (Weeks 1 – 16)
There are four important steps to support your body in detoxifying while on The McCombs Plan:
a) Sweating: A relaxing, daily cleansing process that supports the body’s largest detoxifying organ, the skin, in expelling toxins created by the Candida. Choose between a hot bath, dry sauna, hot tub, or steam room. Sweating is done 6 days per week for 10-15 minutes in a sauna, or 30-45 minutes in the bathtub (it takes most people about 10 minutes to begin sweating.) No other Candida plan utilizes sweating to detoxify. In our experience, the sweating protocol is one of the key reasons that people doing The McCombs Plan report little or no “die-off reaction”.
b) Detox Essentials: This Vitamin C, Echinacea, red clover and lemon bioflavinoids supplement supports your body in detoxifying throughout the 16-week plan. Detox Essentials boosts the immune system and purifies the lymphatic system.
c) Water: By drinking adequate amounts of water (1 Quart of water per 50 lbs. of body weight), you are flushing out toxins and keeping the body well hydrated.
d) Regular Bowel Movements: Normal bowel movements should be 3-4 times per day, or approximately one bowel movement for every meal you eat.
Bowels that are backed up can also slow other detoxification pathways throughout the body. Backed up toxins lead to water retention as the body attempts to buffer the toxins retained in the tissues. This can bloat the body and contribute to further dysfunction. When trying to facilitate detoxification of the body, normal regular bowel movements always help to create a pathway for toxins to leave more easily and efficiently. For those people following the Candida Plan, regular bowel movements can help increase the effectiveness of the Plan, just as they can continue to help maintain a greater state of health overall after the Plan.
4. Regenerate (Weeks 7 – 16)
Vital Flora is a high quality 12-strain probiotic supplement that re-establishes the normal tissue flora in the digestive tract and throughout the entire body. Probiotics support optimal health. Flora Prime is introduced on Week 7, after enough of the Candida has been neutralized and eliminated. Once reintroduced, these good bacteria establish a barrier that keeps the Candida in check. Probiotics taken before Week 7 may create some symptomatic relief, but probiotics taken before Week 7 or on their own cannot eliminate Systemic Candida.
